Market potential analysis for Google Ads

Before going to create a campaign, it is important to have a strategy. In fact, only when you have structured a strategy will your campaigns allow you to reach your goal. In this article we will analyze market potential, that is, how many people may be interested in your products and how crowded the market is.

Keyword Analysis

What are keywords? These are the keywords that will trigger your ads. For example: if you are a dietitian in Milan, you could choose “dietitian Milan” as a keyword for activating your ads, making anyone who types “dietitian Milan” in the Google search bar see your ad.

It is important to analyze keywords in the early stages of research to see if the market has potential. In fact, the first aspect they allow you to understand is how many people are looking for a product or service like yours. Indeed, we can see how many people might be interested in the services of dietitians in Milan. Second, we have a chance to see how much competition there is, that is, how many dietitians in Milan are doing paid advertising.

The first tool (tool) at your disposal is the keyword planning tool. It’s a completely free tool found within Google Ads and you can access it from your Google Ads account and by typing in Keywords it will come up Keyword Planning Tool. Once “Locate new keywords” comes out, we can enter all the words we want to be found on in the search bar.

An initial estimate can be seen from the average monthly searches. The second important aspect is the bidding, that is, how crowded the market is, in particular we are interested in the bidding for the top of the page that will indicate our CPC on average.

Ubersuggest and Semrush

Both are freemium tools, meaning they have a free version with reduced functionality and a paid version with more functionality. Both platforms and their free version are great for getting started.

Free daily searches are few (about 3), so think carefully before choosing which keywords to analyze. At this stage however, it is not necessary to use all the tools, the Google Ads keyword planning tool can suffice.
